Students attend two live lessons each week: • one English Language • one English Literature

Lessons are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30pm

Groups are kept small (usually around 8 students) so each learner receives meaningful guidance and has opportunities to contribute.

Lessons follow the school calendar and do not usually run during half terms or major holidays.

Sessions are live. The learning happens in the room, through discussion, modelling and shared thinking. Regular attendance is important, and parents should factor that in when considering whether the timing works for their child. Occasional absences happen, but students who attend consistently get the most from the programme

Lessons are all taught through Zoom. Students complete their work using the Zoom whiteboard and other software, which allows me to see their work in real time. This means that they receive constant feedback to motivate and guide them in their work, ensuring they know exactly what they are doing well and what their next steps are.

Yes. Much Ado Academy is a live, interactive programme and much of the learning happens through discussion, shared thinking and real-time modelling. Students are expected to have cameras on and contribute to sessions. This isn't a passive experience, and the progress students make reflects that. If your child is keen to join but has specific concerns about cameras or participation, please get in touch before enrolling and we can have a conversation about how we can make them feel comfortable.

All students need is a quiet space to work, and a computer, laptop, or tablet with a keyboard. They will be expected to type so accessing lessons through a phone won't work.

Yes. Lessons are skills based as content is covered heavily at school and via free online videos on Youtube. The texts covered in lessons are: Macbeth Romeo and Juliet An Inspector Calls A Christmas Carol Jekyll & Hyde All poetry anthologies Unseen poetry

Much Ado Academy is designed for students who are working around Grades 5–7 and need explicit instruction in how to build stronger analytical responses. A student working at Grade 4 may need more foundational support than the academy provides. Get in touch and I can advise whether this is the right fit or whether something else would serve them better first.

Possibly. Some students at Grade 7 are producing strong work consistently, in which case the Academy may not be necessary. Others are hitting Grade 7 inconsistently and want to understand how to build towards a reliable 8 or 9. If that sounds like your child, then the Academy will help them do this.

Lessons begin on September 8th and run weekly during term time.
